Ping any IP address or host
If you suspect a problem with a server a ping test can send small packets of information to a domain or ip address and then print the results. The results will tell both whether the packets were sent as well as the time taken. Using ping you can test to see if you can reach other computers, determine how long it takes for a website or network to respond, and if your pinging a domain name find out the ip address.
